Consultant in GI Endoscopy
Full time
Permanent
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in GI Endoscopy based within the Divisions of Medicine and Surgery at University Hospitals Bristol. This is a full time, permanent post.
The successful candidate will be independent in diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy. The successful applicant will hold accreditation in Gastroenterology, Hepatology or Surgery, although applicants within 6 months of gaining CCT will also be considered. Sub-specialty interests such as Bowel Cancer Screening, EUS or ERCP are not required but will certainly be considered.
There is potential for the post-holder to contribute to the GI bleed on-call rota, this can be negotiated. A contribution will be expected to endoscopy training. The job plan will be flexible, with some endoscopy lists on a regular fixed basis, and others varying dependent upon dropped lists.
Endoscopy will be carried out at South Bristol Community Hospital and the Queens Day Unit in Bristol Royal Infirmary. The successful applicant will join the endoscopy service, working with clinical teams in gastroenterology and hepatology, colorectal and upper GI surgery. Surgery and Acute Medicine (as represented by Gastroenterology) work closely together.
We provide the local hub for bowel cancer screening, although we do not expect the applicant to contribute to this. We have specialist GI radiology and histopathology on site and enjoy close links with our colorectal surgeons and GI paediatricians. There are GI physiology services on site.
The interview will be held on the 16th April 2019.
