Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology Clinical Fellow Post (Full Time)

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology Team at Bristol Children’s hospital. The post holder will be part of the paediatric infectious diseases and immunology team activities providing in-patient care, including paediatric antimicrobial stewardship and out-patient paediatric antimicrobial treatment in Bristol Children Hospital and provide consults and out-patient paediatric infectious diseases and immunology services in Bristol and the South West Region.

The department has a very active research department with opportunities to participate in the wide range of ongoing paediatric research activity.

The post holder will have a strong interest in paediatric infectious diseases and immunology, be medically qualified to at least ST4 Paediatrics level.

There is an active educational programme within the department and the hospital, with weekly teaching sessions, journal clubs and monthly simulation sessions. Joint rounds with the microbiology colleagues in PICU,  NICU, oncology/BMT and renal wards are conducted twice per week. Close links with the adult immunologists and the paediatric rheumatology team are well established with joint clinics.

A number of commercial and non-commercial studies are coordinated  by the Paediatric Infectious Diseases consultants and participation in research is strongly encouraged.

The post holder will take part in the Paediatric on call rota (1 in 9) working alongside 2 other registrar level doctors at all times to cover all the medical inpatients in the hospital. This could be at 50%-100% contribution.  There is a separate rota for the paediatric emergency department and the paediatric intensive care unit.
