At University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust we are currently recruiting for sonographers with an interest / experience in Paediatric Ultrasound.

Specialising in paediatric imaging, the Paediatric Radiology Department offers a comprehensive service to inpatients, outpatients, emergency department patients and children referred by their GP, supporting the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC) to provide a local service for Bristol children and a referral service for specialist care for families across the South West and nationally.

This position is on a full time basis, with some opportunity to work in the adult service.

Flexible working arrangements are available and open to discussion.

Your role will include (but will not be limited to):

  • To perform and be fully accountable for a wide range of paediatric ultrasound examinations, including (portable and departmental), abdominal, cranial, hip, vascular, gynaecological, and musculoskeletal and “small parts” ultrasound examinations.
  • participate in service provision across the Trust’s hospitals
  • Communicate and liaise with patients, clinicians and other healthcare professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Provide diagnostic report of examinations according to the level of authorisation agreed

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold post graduate qualifications in General Medical Ultrasound with a minimum of one year of experience post qualification
  • Be competent in independent reporting at Advanced practice level
  • Demonstrate a commitment to maintain the highest standards of imaging and service delivery

Experience in Paediatric ultrasound in the areas mentioned is desirable but not essential – training and supervision will be provided by Consultant paediatric radiologists to supplement the breadth and experience of the post holder in paediatric ultrasound.
